Comments: We bought a 1977 Venture 222 earlier this year and had a great summer on it. Now we're interested in buying new sails for next season. Any ideas where I should look? Also, do you know anyone or where I might be able to locate an original galley. Ours doesn't have one though it's supposed to. It would be a nice addition. Any help is greatly appreciated. Congrats on a job well done!

Comments: I just bought a V 2-22. 1973. Am so happy about it. I am taking it to CO for a few years to finish college and prepare it for real sailing, months at a time! I plan for a Galley, extended bed on the starboard side from the forpeak, compartmentalized port bench, organized storage under cockpit, and more. It took more than a week of hard work with over 15 young people to get her sailing again! With all this major work out of the way, I can focous on the details! Thank you Mariners!!!

Comments: NICE WEBSITE! A FEW YEARS AGO,I ACQUIRED FOR FREE A 1967 VENTURE 21. IT CAME WITH A ? 500 LB CAST IRON KEEL, WHICH I HAD TO INSTALL BY MAKING A ROLLING,HYDRAULIC JIG! I REPLACED ALL OF THE STANDING RIGGING,UPGRADED THE MAIN SAIL WITH PLASTIC SLIDERS AND REEF POINTS. I FOUND A GREAT PRICE ON A HONDA 7 1/2 HP 4 STROKE! ITS NOT A POPTOP, BUT SHE'S FAST! IT CAME WITH SPINNAKER,STORM JIB,AND GENOA,WISKER POLE AND ALOT OF RACEWARE! THE TRAILER NEEDED MUCH WORK AND THE MAST FOOTING HAD TO BE WELDED/REINFORCED. ALL SAID AND DONE, THIS FREEBEE COST ME ABOUT $3500...WHAT WAS I THINKING??!! IF YOU KNOW ANYONE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THAT WANTS TO BUY A RACER, GIVE 'EM MY EMAIL!

Comments: Brett, I have just bought a venture 222 (1971) that seems to be in extraordinary good shape. couple of questions: 1. the mast step braket is mounted on top of a 2.5 - 3 inch block of rotted wood. All similar size boats in the nearby marina have the step bracket mount directly to the deck. Since it is rotted, I had planned to replace the wood, but now I am thinking of mounting the step bracket to the deck. Any thoughts as to why this modification was made and if it is necessary to replace it? 2. also, there is a mysterious electrical device mounted to the side of this wooden spacer: a 3/4 " dia perforated tube about 2.5 inches long with a ceramic filled smaller tube inside the fist tube. a small gauge wire was epoxed to this rod or small tube and the wire runs up inside the mast. What is it? Guys at the marine here have no idea. Doug

Comments: Help! I'm at a crossroads. I own a V-22 aswell as a V2-22, and I don't know which one to restore. The V-22 has no rigging, mast, boom or sails, but the V22 does. The V22 is a gutted hull, and the V2-22 has a fiberglass hull liner that is in great shape. I set the mast from the V22 on the V222 and found out that the shrouds are about 6" too long. This is telling me that the mast from the V22 is too short for the V222. I don't know which boat to restore.......Help!
